Description
I would like to dedicate this episode to Seiji Ozawa, who passed away at the age of 88 on February 6th, 2024.

Fun Fact
After graduating from the Seijo Junior High School in 1950, Ozawa broke two fingers in a rugby game. Hideo Saito, his teacher at the Toho Gakuen School of Music, brought him to a performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, ultimately shifting his musical focus from piano performance to conducting.

I would like to dedicate this episode to Seiji Ozawa, who passed away at the age of 88 on February 6th, 2024.

Ozawa was the first conductor from Japan to gain recognition in the West, achieving superstar status—he was indeed a pioneer.

Career highlights include his lengthy tenure as music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Known for his prodigious memory and dynamic podium presence, Ozawa garnered both admiration and criticism for his interpretations, with some praising his brilliance and others questioning his depth.

His commitment to new music was evident throughout his career—he founded the Saito Kinen Orchestra, which became a respected ensemble in the scene. Despite health challenges later in life, Ozawa continued to contribute to the music world, notably conducting a performance broadcast to outer space in 2022.
